Info: Dass die Welt ein Müllproblem hat, das sehen inzwischen auch die Hersteller von Ölprodukten und anderen Kunststoffen. Das World Plastics Council trifft sich auf der K und hat über das Problem gesprochen. Dazu gehören 40 der weltweit größten Firmen aus diesen Branchen. Bekannte Namen sind darunter wie ExxonMobil oder Covestro und im Westen eher unbekannte wie Sabic oder CPCIF. Der Fokus ihrer Bemühungen liegt in Südostasien, doch am Problem müssen alle Staaten arbeiten, sagt der WPC-Vorsitzende Jim Seward vom Chemieriesen LyondellBasell. Die Antworten sind auch englisch.

2. In Europe, the waste is not so much a fundamental problem of waste lying around but more a problem stemming from ideological points of view. In other parts of the world it may be the other way around. How do you view regional differences?

3. Have members of the panel brought forth interesting solutions or ideas?

4. From the reports in the past months in the german press I got the picture that South East Asia and China are hotspots of plastics waste. What do these countries contribute to the discussion?

5. From some discussions I get the impression that a blame game is going on. Consumers, the industry, governments all say, that the others have to move first in order to change. Is there a way to bring them together?
